POSITION TITLE:         School Bus Driver

 

FLSA:                            Non Exempt

 

QUALIFICATIONS:                             

• High School diploma or G.E.D. required; five years experience preferred 

• CDL license required

• 1+ years’ experience driving a school bus (training provided for the right candidate)

• No at-fault traffic accidents in the last 5 years

• Clean driving record (no traffic citations in last 5 years)

• Ability to carry out assigned route on time

• Excellent communication skills

• 2+ years’ working with children preferred

 

REPORTS TO:    Maintenance Supervisor                    

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:      Twelve month employment (261 days).  Salary and work year to be established by the Board of Education.  Benefits according to the Classified Agreement.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

1. Transport children to and from school in the mornings and afternoons

2. Obey all traffic laws
3. Perform inspections of the bus before and after each route

4. Maintain a clean and mechanically-sound bus at all times

5. Ensure safety of all students

6. Discipline children when required to maintain a safe and healthy environment

    

7. Assist students with getting on and off the bus when required

8.  

   Verify permissions for children who ride home with friends

OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:

1. Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle on a daily basis.

2. Work overtime as directed.

3. Attend meetings as directed.

4. Perform other duties as assigned.
